This new digital standard will provide customers with a faster, simpler and cheaper way of providing digital payments.
Digital certificates are a common digital payment method for small businesses, but the digital payment system is not always the most secure.
This is where GST is aiming to change that.
With the introduction of the GSHE digital certificate in June 2019, GST has set out to change the digital payments landscape for businesses across Australia.
The digital certificate will be available to businesses that offer an online digital service, and it will enable them to accept digital payments at a rate of one-tenth of the cost of a standard standard payment method.
The service provider will then make a one-time payment to the business, and the business will receive the digital certificate.
The GST on GST payment will be reduced to one-third of the standard payment.
This means the GST will be one-half of the fee charged by the digital service in order to use the digital services.
The change comes after a number of businesses across the country, including Gee, began accepting digital payments in April.
The move is part of GST managing to get digital payments onto a mainstream level in the Australian economy.GST is the first state-level company to introduce digital payment options.
It has also rolled out a new digital payment option to businesses across Queensland and Victoria.GSE, GSA, GSU and GSE’s digital payment service are available in over 60,000 business premises across the state.
The announcement comes after GST was awarded a $5 billion Innovation Fund from the National Australia Fund in February 2019, to support innovation across the economy.
The Australian Digital Commerce Association is the industry body for digital payment providers.
