A poll from YouGov/CBI shows Canadians are split on the pipeline’s merits.
The results of the survey, conducted between February and March, are below.
If the poll is accurate, Canadians are more likely to back the pipeline than back TransCanada’s project, and have less confidence in the process of approving it than the rest of Canada.
More people in Canada support the pipeline if they think the Canadian government will be able to do a thorough review before approving the pipeline.
In addition, a slim majority of Canadians (53%) think the pipeline will be approved “strongly” or “very strongly” as opposed to just 32% who think it will be “somewhat” or not “strong enough”.
The survey was conducted between January 6 and January 9, 2017 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points. 1:21
